Biography
Abhijat Joshi is an Indian screenwriter who works primarily in Hindi cinema. Born on 1 December 1969 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, he studied English literature and began in theatre before moving into film. He holds an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin and has been a professor of English at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, since 2003.
Joshi is known for his long collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions. His credits include the screenplays for Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), 3 Idiots (2009), PK (2014) and Sanju (2018). He has also written for Mission Kashmir (2000), Wazir (2016) and Dunki (2023). He received a National Film Award for Best Screenplay for Lage Raho Munna Bhai and multiple Filmfare Awards for story, screenplay and dialogue.
