Biography
Ahmed El-Shenawi was an Egyptian-born actor who worked primarily in British film and television. He began his career on the BBC Arabic Service radio drama series before joining the British Actors’ Equity Association.
His screen credits include the role of Negdir in Alan Parker’s Midnight Express (1978), a bodyguard in an episode of The Professionals (1977), the therapist in Lars von Trier’s The Element of Crime (1984), and Merchant #2 in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). He also appeared in the 1978 television adaptation of The Thief of Baghdad and several British television series.
El-Shenawi died on 1 February 2024 in London.
