Biography
Alain Marcoen is a Belgian cinematographer. He studied at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Brussels and began his career as a lighting technician before working as a camera operator and director of photography.
Marcoen has been the regular cinematographer for directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne since La Promesse (1996). His credits with them include Rosetta (1999), The Son (2002), The Child (2005), Lorna's Silence (2008), The Kid with a Bike (2011), Two Days, One Night (2014) and The Unknown Girl (2016). He has also worked on other features such as Gimme Shelter (2013) and 600 Miles (2015).
