Biography
Alan Stewart (born 5 September 1960) is a Scottish cinematographer. Born in Comrie, Perth and Kinross, he began his career in the camera department as a tea boy before progressing to clapper loader, focus puller and camera operator, working under cinematographers including Ellen Kuras and Seamus McGarvey.
He relocated to England in the mid-1990s. In 1998 he received a BAFTA television nomination, shared with Peter Middleton, for the BBC series Holding On. Stewart has worked extensively with director Guy Ritchie, initially in the camera department on films such as Sherlock Holmes (2009) and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), before serving as director of photography on Aladdin (2019), The Gentlemen (2019), Wrath of Man (2021) and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023). Other credits as director of photography include Tom & Jerry (2021) and The Union (2024).
