Biography
Allan Edwall was a Swedish actor, director, author, composer and singer. He trained at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in Stockholm from 1949 to 1952 and appeared in more than 400 stage, film, television and radio roles over a career spanning 1953 to 1997.
He is known for roles in several Ingmar Bergman films, including Oscar Ekdahl in Fanny and Alexander (1982), and for his work in adaptations of Astrid Lindgren stories such as Emil and the Piglet (1973) and Ronia: The Robber's Daughter (1984). In 1974 he received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor for his performance in Emil and the Piglet. Edwall also directed films, including Åke and His World (1984), and from 1986 until his death he owned and operated Teater Brunnsgatan Fyra in Stockholm.
