Biography

Andrea Galer is a British costume designer who works in film and television. She began her career contributing to the wardrobe for Julie Christie on Don't Look Now (1973), collaborating with Marit Allen, and later designed costumes for Withnail & I (1987).

After a ten-year break to raise her children, Galer returned to costume design in the mid-1980s and became known for her work on period productions. These include How to Get Ahead in Advertising (1989), Firelight (1997), Mansfield Park (1999), Jane Eyre (2006) and Bleak House (2005), for which she won a BAFTA Television Craft Award. She also received a Primetime Emmy Award for her costumes on Jane Eyre.
