Biography
Andrew Havill is a British actor born on 1 June 1965 in Oxford. He read English and drama at the University of Exeter. He spent four years with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and four years with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He began his professional career in repertory theatre in 1989 and made his screen debut in 1993.
Havill has appeared in more than 40 films and many British costume dramas. His film roles include Robert Wood in The King's Speech (2010), Mr Hotchkiss in Cloud Atlas (2012), a teacher in The Imitation Game (2014), Lord Lascelles in Downton Abbey (2019), the Archbishop of Canterbury in The King (2019), and a First Order Officer in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). He has also worked extensively in television, including appearances in Sherlock (2010) and The Crown (2016).
On stage he has performed at the National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe.
