Biography
Andrew MacLachlan (27 February 1941 – 17 December 2018) was a British actor. Born in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, Wales, he was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford, and St Edmund Hall, Oxford, where he played first-class cricket. After working as a teacher and in an office job, he began acting at the age of 38.
He made his screen debut in Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) after contacting his Oxford friend Terry Jones. He appeared in several other Monty Python-related films, including Time Bandits (1981), Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983) as the Groom, A Fish Called Wanda (1988) and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988). His television credits included Foyle's War (2002) and Pickles: The Dog Who Won the World Cup (2006).
MacLachlan was married to Georgina Morton from 1966 until his death; they had three daughters.
