Biography
Andy Riley (born 27 April 1970) is a British scriptwriter, cartoonist and author. He was educated at Aylesbury Grammar School and Pembroke College, Oxford, where he read Modern History. He frequently collaborates with writing partner Kevin Cecil, a partnership that began at school.
Riley has written for television series including Black Books (2000), Big Train (1998), Year of the Rabbit (2019) and Veep (2012–2015). He co-wrote an episode of the series Down Cemetery Road (2025). His film credits include Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012). He has won a Primetime Emmy Award and two BAFTA Awards.
Riley is also the creator of the Bunny Suicides series of cartoon books and the King Flashypants children’s books. He drew the weekly strip Roasted for The Observer Magazine from 2002 to 2010.
