Biography
Kevin Cecil is a British screenwriter and television producer. Born on 26 March 1969 in Lewisham, London, he frequently collaborates with Andy Riley, a friend since their time at Aylesbury Grammar School.
Cecil and Riley have written for series including Black Books (2000), for which they won a BAFTA, Veep (2012), for which Cecil received a Writers Guild of America award, Year of the Rabbit (2019) and Big Train (1998). Their film work includes Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and Sherlock Gnomes (2018). Cecil co-created the series Hyperdrive (2006).
He has also contributed to The Armando Iannucci Shows, Armstrong & Miller, Little Britain, Trigger Happy TV, Smack the Pony and Spitting Image, and appeared as an actor in an episode of The IT Crowd (2010). Cecil wrote an episode of the series Down Cemetery Road (2025).
