Biography
Angus Macfadyen is a Scottish actor. He was born on 21 September 1963 in Glasgow and raised in several countries including the Philippines, Singapore, France and Africa. He attended the University of Edinburgh and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
Macfadyen began his career in the early 1990s with stage work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and television roles including in Takin' Over the Asylum (1994). His performance as Robert the Bruce in Braveheart (1995) brought wider recognition. He has appeared in films such as Equilibrium (2002), the Saw series (2006–2009), We Bought a Zoo (2011) and The Lost City of Z (2017), and on television in Outlander (2014) and Superman & Lois (2021).
In 2019 he reprised the role of Robert the Bruce in the film of the same name, which he co-wrote and produced.
