Biography
Ann E. Todd (born Ann Todd Phillips, later Ann Basart or Ann Phillips Basart) was an American child actress. She appeared in nearly 40 films between 1939 and 1953, often in supporting roles alongside stars including Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis and Maureen O’Hara.
She made her screen debut in Zaza (1939). Among her credits were Destry Rides Again (1939), Intermezzo: A Love Story (1939), All This, and Heaven Too (1940), The Blue Bird (1940), Blood and Sand (1941), How Green Was My Valley (1941) as Ceinwen, and Kings Row (1942). She added the middle initial E. to distinguish herself from the British actress Ann Todd. Todd was a regular on the television series The Stu Erwin Show (1950–1953).
After retiring from acting she became a music reference librarian at the University of California, Berkeley, where she worked for more than twenty years and founded the newsletter Cum Notis Variorum. In 1984 she established Fallen Leaf Press, publishing music reference works and scores. She received a lifetime achievement citation from the Music Library Association in 1993.
