Biography

Anton Rodgers (born Anthony Rodgers) was an English actor and occasional director. He trained at the Italia Conti Academy and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and began appearing on stage at the age of 14.

Rodgers performed extensively in theatre, film and television. He appeared in films including Scrooge (1970), The Day of the Jackal (1973), The Fourth Protocol (1987) as George Berenson, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988). On television he starred in the sitcoms Fresh Fields (1984–1986) and May to December (1989–1994).

He was also known for stage roles such as Mr Jingle in the musical Pickwick and for winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Songbook (1979).
