Biography
Anu Valia is an American director, writer and producer. Born in Indiana, she graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her short film Lucia, Before and After (2017) won the U.S. Fiction Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
Valia has directed episodes of numerous television series, including Rooster (2026), Shrinking (2023–), She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), And Just Like That… (2021–), The Afterparty (2022), A Man on the Inside (2024), High Potential (2024) and Never Have I Ever (2020). She served as executive producer and pilot director on The Big Door Prize (2023).
Her debut feature film, We Strangers (2024), premiered at SXSW. She is the inaugural recipient of the Blackwell Prize in Filmmaking.
