Biography
Atli Örvarsson is an Icelandic film and television composer, conductor and musician. Born in Akureyri in 1970, he began his career as a member of the Icelandic rock band Sálin hans Jóns míns before studying film scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
He has composed scores for numerous studio films including Babylon A.D. (2008), Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013), The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013), The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021). His television work includes the long-running series Chicago Fire (from 2012) and Chicago P.D. (from 2014), as well as Silo (2023).
Örvarsson won a BAFTA TV Craft Award for his score to Silo in 2024 and received an Emmy nomination for the same work. He has also received multiple ASCAP and BMI awards and collaborated with Hans Zimmer.
