Biography
Ato Essandoh is an American actor. He was born on 29 July 1972 in Schenectady, New York, to parents from Ghana. He graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1990 and received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Cornell University. He later studied acting at The Acting Studio in New York City.
Essandoh began his screen career in the early 2000s. His film roles include appearances in Garden State (2004), Hitch (2005), Blood Diamond (2006), Django Unchained (2012) and Jason Bourne (2016). On television he has appeared in Elementary (2012–2018) as Alfredo Llamosa, Altered Carbon (2018) as Vernon Elliot and other series.
He plays Stuart Hayford in the Netflix series The Diplomat (2023–present).
