Biography
Bernd Lepel is a German production designer and costume designer. Born in 1944 in Murnau, Bavaria, he studied art and worked initially as a stage designer at the Staatstheater Stuttgart and the opera in Frankfurt.
He began working in film in the late 1970s. His credits include The Tin Drum (1979), Death Watch (1980), Rosa Luxemburg (1986), Get Real (1998), Downfall (2004), The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008), Pope Joan (2009), 3096 Days (2013), Colonia (2015) and Balloon (2018). He received the Award for Best Production Design at the Venice Film Festival for Burning Secret (1988).
