Biography
Bert Bates (18 August 1907 – 23 April 1976) was a British film editor. He began his career with the 1931 film Many Waters and worked on more than sixty feature films until 1973, sometimes credited as A.S. Bates. He was employed by leading British studios and collaborated with directors including Alfred Hitchcock, Anatole Litvak and Carol Reed.
His credits include the James Bond films Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Live and Let Die (1973), as well as Battle of Britain (1969), A Shot in the Dark (1964), The Heroes of Telemark (1965), Return of the Seven (1966), Under Capricorn (1949), Anastasia (1956), Our Man in Havana (1960) and Trapeze (1956).
