Biography
Betty Marsden (also credited as Beatrice Marsden) was an English actress. Born in West Derby, Liverpool, she trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and began her career in the 1930s, later entertaining troops with ENSA during the Second World War.
She became known for her work in BBC radio comedy, playing multiple characters in Beyond Our Ken (1958–1964) and Round the Horne (1965–1968). Her film roles included Mata Hari in Carry On Regardless (1961) and Harriet Potter in Carry On Camping (1969). Television appearances encompassed Callan (1967 series), Blake's 7 (1978), Inspector Morse (1987), The Bill (1984) and Sherlock Holmes (1984).
Marsden also appeared in Britannia Hospital (1982) as Hermione, The Dresser (1983) as Violet Manning, and Casualty (1986). She was married to James Wilson Muggoch from 1945 until his death in 1975.
