Biography
Branko Lustig (1932–2019) was a Croatian film producer. Born in Osijek, he began working in the Yugoslav film industry in the mid-1950s as a production manager and later took on similar roles internationally, including as location manager on Fiddler on the Roof (1971). He moved to the United States in 1988.
Lustig produced Schindler's List (1993) for Steven Spielberg, sharing the Academy Award for Best Picture; he also appeared in the film in a small role. He won a second Oscar as a producer on Ridley Scott's Gladiator (2000) and worked with Scott on several further films, among them Black Hawk Down (2001) and Kingdom of Heaven (2005). A Holocaust survivor, he donated his Schindler's List Oscar to Yad Vashem.
