Biography

Buck Sanders is an American composer and sound designer. Born in Mississippi in 1971 and raised in South Carolina, he moved to Los Angeles in 1989. He studied guitar performance at UCLA and met composer Marco Beltrami while working at a laserdisc store in 1997, soon becoming his assistant and later frequent co-composer.

Sanders has collaborated with Beltrami on numerous films across genres, including The Hurt Locker (2008), for which they received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score in 2010. Other credits include Ford v Ferrari (2019), Warm Bodies (2013), No Escape (2015), Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2010) and Max Payne (2008). He is noted for his work integrating experimental sound design and unconventional instrumentation into film scores.
