Biography
Carl Reiner (20 March 1922 – 29 June 2020) was an American actor, comedian, director, screenwriter and author. He began his career in the 1950s as a performer and writer on Sid Caesar's variety programmes Your Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour, working alongside Mel Brooks, Neil Simon and Woody Allen.
Reiner created, produced and wrote for the sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–1966), in which he also appeared. He formed a comedy partnership with Mel Brooks for the 2000 Year Old Man albums and directed films including Oh, God! (1977) and several Steve Martin comedies such as The Jerk (1979). He played Saul Bloom in Ocean's Eleven (2001), Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007), and voiced characters in animated films including Toy Story 4 (2019). Reiner received 12 Primetime Emmy Awards and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
