Biography
Carlo Poggioli is an Italian costume designer. He studied stage and costume design at the Istituto D'Arte and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples, then trained at the Tirelli workshop in Rome as an assistant to designers including Gabriella Pescucci and Piero Tosi.
He has designed costumes for films including Cold Mountain (2003, BAFTA nomination), Van Helsing (2004, Saturn Award nomination, co-designed with Pescucci), Silk (2007, Genie and Jutra awards), Divergent (2014), Youth (2015, David di Donatello and Silver Ribbon nominations) and The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023). He has collaborated repeatedly with directors Terry Gilliam and Paolo Sorrentino on projects such as The Brothers Grimm (2005), The Zero Theorem (2013), Loro (2018) and the series The Young Pope (2016) and The New Pope (2020). In 2020 he received the Italian Golden Globe, the first awarded to a costume designer.
