Biography
Carlos Saldanha is a Brazilian animator, director, producer and voice actor of animated films. He directed Rio (2011) and Rio 2 (2014), for which he also contributed the story, as well as Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) and Ferdinand (2017). He co-directed Ice Age (2002) and Robots (2005).
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Saldanha moved to New York in 1991. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1993, where he met Chris Wedge, co-founder of Blue Sky Studios, and subsequently joined the studio. He worked as an animator on Wedge’s short film Bunny.
Saldanha received Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Short Film for Gone Nutty (2002) and Best Animated Feature for Ferdinand (2017).
