Biography
Cate Bangs is an American production designer, art director and set designer. She began working in the art department in the 1980s and has credits on numerous feature films and television series.
Her production design work includes the series My So-Called Life (1994) and Fudge (1995), and the television film Lucky Day (1991). As an art director or set designer she has contributed to films such as Clue (1985), Cobra (1986), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), RoboCop 3 (1993), Home Alone 3 (1997), Volcano (1997), Ouija (2014) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and series including Crime Story, Nothing Sacred and GLOW.
Bangs received an Emmy nomination and an Art Directors Guild nomination for Nothing Sacred (1998). In 2017 she was awarded an Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. She has held leadership roles in the Art Directors Guild and IATSE Local 847, and has taught on industry training programmes.
