Biography

Charles Hallahan (also credited as Charles John Hallahan) was an American film, television and stage actor. Born in Philadelphia, he graduated with a BA from Rutgers University-Camden and an MFA from Temple University. He began his career in regional theatre and moved to Los Angeles in 1977, where he helped found the Matrix Theatre Company.

Hallahan appeared in films including The Thing (1982) as Norris, Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Vision Quest (1985), Pale Rider (1985) as McGill, Executive Decision (1996) and Dante's Peak (1997). On television he was a regular as Capt. Charlie Devane on Hunter (1986–1991), and had series roles on The Paper Chase (1978–1979) and Grace Under Fire (1993–1994). He also provided voices for Gargoyles (1995–1996).

An accomplished stage performer, Hallahan received three Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for lead performances. He died in Los Angeles in 1997.
