Biography
Charlie Hanson is a British producer and director of television comedy and drama. His career spans more than three decades, with early credits including the Channel 4 sitcom Desmond's and the BBC series Chef! (1993–1996).
He has produced numerous series and films associated with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, including Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (2004), Extras (2005–2007), Cemetery Junction (2010), Life's Too Short (2011), Derek (2012–2014) and After Life (2019–2020). Other credits include A Way of Life (2004), David Brent: Life on the Road (2016) and Where Hands Touch (2018).
Programmes he has produced have received BAFTA awards, and he shared a Golden Globe for the Extras television special.
