Biography
Christian Almesberger is a German cinematographer. He was born on 21 September 1964 and is based in Berlin. A member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK) since 1992, he began his career in the camera department on feature films and later took on director of photography roles.
His early credits include first assistant camera on The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), and camera operator on Cloud Atlas (2012). He has served as director of photography on the series Babylon Berlin (2019–2022, multiple seasons), The Empress (2022) and Sense8 (2015–2017), as well as the features Nairobi Half Life (2012), Soul Boy (2010) and Lusala (2019). He received a nomination for the German Camera Award in 2020 for his work on Babylon Berlin.
