Biography

Christopher Young is an American composer of film and television scores. Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, he graduated from Hampshire College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in music and completed postgraduate work at the University of North Texas. He moved to Los Angeles in 1980, where he studied at the UCLA Film School under David Raksin, and later taught at the Thornton School of Music of the University of Southern California.

Young is known for his work on horror films including Hellraiser (1987) and for scores on Wonder Boys (2000), The Shipping News (2001), Spider-Man 3 (2007) and Sinister (2012). He received the Richard Kirk Award for Outstanding Career Achievement at the 2008 BMI Film and TV Awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score for The Shipping News.
