Biography

Cindy Chupack is an American television writer, producer and film director. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and holds a journalism degree from Northwestern University. After working in advertising in New York, she began writing for television series including Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond.

She is known for her work as a writer and executive producer on Sex and the City (1998–2004) and as a writer and co-executive producer on Modern Family (2009–), for which she received Emmy and Golden Globe recognition. Other credits include writing episodes of Better Things (2016) and Divorce (2016). She made her feature directorial debut with Otherhood (2019).

Chupack has also written two comic memoirs, The Between Boyfriends Book (2003) and The Longest Date: Life as a Wife (2014), and contributed essays to publications including The New York Times.
