Biography
Claude Berri (born Claude Berel Langmann) was a French film producer, director, screenwriter and actor. He founded Renn Productions and worked extensively as both a director and producer of mainstream and more challenging films.
As a producer, his credits include Roman Polanski's Tess (1979). He directed Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring (both 1986), Uranus (1990) and Germinal (1993). Earlier, his short film Le Poulet won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1965. He also produced or co-produced films by directors including Claude Sautet, Jean-Jacques Annaud and Dany Boon.
