Biography
Clive Exton (born Clive Jack Montague Brooks) was a British screenwriter and playwright. He trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and began his career writing for television anthology series including Armchair Theatre and Play for Today in the 1960s and 1970s.
Exton wrote the screenplays for films such as 10 Rillington Place (1971) and The Awakening (1980), and co-wrote Red Sonja (1985). Returning to Britain in the mid-1980s, he became the principal writer for Agatha Christie's Poirot (1989–2001), contributing more than twenty episodes, and wrote all twenty-three episodes of Jeeves and Wooster (1990–1993). He also contributed to Rosemary & Thyme (2003–2006).
He died in London on 16 August 2007.
