Biography

Bill Craig (28 February 1930 – 19 July 2002) was a Scottish television scriptwriter. Born in Glasgow, he wrote hundreds of scripts over four decades, working on series including Play for Today, Shoestring (1980) and Bergerac (1983–1984).

He specialised in adaptations of Scottish literature, including The Vital Spark (1965–1974), The Borderers (1968–1970, which he created), Sunset Song, Cloud Howe, Grey Granite and The Eagle of the Ninth (1977). Craig also contributed to Agatha Christie's Poirot (1993) and an adaptation for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1985). He was a founder member of the Writers' Guild and campaigned for authors' rights. He was married to Alro Craig.
