Biography
Bob Baker was a British television and film writer. Born in Bristol in 1939, he began his career writing for television in the 1970s, often in partnership with Dave Martin. Together they contributed numerous scripts to Doctor Who during the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker eras, and co-created the robotic dog K9.
From the 1990s he collaborated with animator Nick Park on the Wallace & Gromit series. Baker co-wrote the short films The Wrong Trousers (1993), A Close Shave (1995) and A Matter of Loaf and Death (2008), as well as the feature film Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005). He also wrote for series including Shoestring, Bergerac and Into the Labyrinth, and published an autobiography, K9 Stole My Trousers, in 2013. Baker died in 2021.
