Biography

Matthew Robinson (born 27 July 1944) is a British-Cambodian television and film producer, director and writer. He graduated from King's College, Cambridge, and began working in television in 1966 as a researcher before directing current affairs programmes and numerous drama series and soaps from the 1970s onwards.

He directed two Doctor Who stories, Resurrection of the Daleks (1984) and Attack of the Cybermen (1985). Robinson served as lead director on the launch of EastEnders in 1985 and later as its executive producer (1998–2000). He was the first producer of the children's drama series Byker Grove (1989–1997).

He subsequently became Head of Drama at BBC Wales. Since 2003 he has been based in Cambodia, where he established the production company Khmer Mekong Films.
