Biography
Constantine Romanoff, born Friedrich William Heinrich August Meyer on 21 August 1881 in Dielingen, Germany, was an actor and former professional wrestler. He emigrated to the United States and began appearing in films in the mid-1920s, usually in uncredited roles as heavies or supporting characters.
He played Sandoni in the 1927 Harold Lloyd comedy The Kid Brother. Other credits include uncredited parts in Freaks (1932), Island of Lost Souls (1932), Scarface (1932), Ninotchka (1939), The Long Voyage Home (1940) and It's a Wonderful Life (1946). He continued wrestling between film jobs and appeared in serials such as Flash Gordon (1936). Romanoff died in Los Angeles on 8 February 1969.
