Biography

Daniel Ryan is an English actor and writer. Born Daniel O'Brien in 1968 in Culcheth, Lancashire, he trained at LAMDA and has worked extensively in theatre, with credits including productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.

On television he is known for recurring roles such as DI Tony Manning in The Bay (2019–2025) and appearances in Mount Pleasant, Vera, Death in Paradise and Doctor Who. He played Steve Holland in the 2026 BBC series Dear England.
