Biography

David Bauer (born Herman Bernard Waldman) was an American actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he trained at Washington University in St. Louis and began his career on the New York stage. Blacklisted in the United States, he relocated to Britain in 1958 and worked primarily there until his death.

He appeared in the 1967 series The Prisoner as The Judge/Number Two. His film roles include Lieutenant General Harry Buford in Patton (1970), M. Slumber in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and a judge in The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965). He also featured in episodes of The Avengers and The Saint, and worked on the British stage. Bauer was married to actress Stella Tanner from 1960.
