Biography
David Dawson is an English actor born on 7 September 1982 in Widnes, Cheshire. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Dawson is known for television roles including Roberts in Peaky Blinders (2013), King Alfred in The Last Kingdom (2015–2018), Toby Kent in Luther (2010) and Fred Best in Ripper Street (2012–2016). Film credits include My Policeman (2022) and All the Old Knives (2022). He is set to appear as Derek Jarman in the 2026 film Elsinore.
On stage, he received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for playing Smike in the 2007 production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. Other theatre work includes productions of Comedians (2009), Posh (2010) and Luise Miller (2011).
