Biography
David Haig (born David Haig Collum Ward, 20 September 1955) is an English actor and playwright. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and has appeared in numerous stage productions in the West End as well as film and television roles.
His acting credits include Bernard the Groom in Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Howard Wade in Two Weeks Notice (2002), roles in Penny Dreadful (2014), Florence Foster Jenkins (2016), Killing Eve (2018), Downton Abbey (2019) and Midsomer Murders. As a writer, he wrote the play My Boy Jack (1997) and its 2007 television adaptation, in which he also starred, and the play Pressure (2014), which he co-adapted for the 2026 film.
Haig received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a New Play for Our Country's Good (1988) and was appointed MBE in 2013 for services to drama. He also won a Golden FIPA Award for the screenplay of My Boy Jack.
