Biography
Dean Fleischer Camp is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and editor. He created the Marcel the Shell with Shoes On short films with Jenny Slate and directed the 2021 feature film adaptation, for which he also served as co-writer, editor and actor (as "Dean"). He directed the 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.
Fleischer Camp graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He previously directed the 2016 collage film Fraud. For Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, he and co-writer Nick Paley received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Editing, and he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
He was married to Jenny Slate from 2012 to 2016; the pair collaborated on the Marcel the Shell with Shoes On shorts, books and feature film.
