Biography
Del Zamora is an American actor of Mescalero Apache and Mexican heritage. Raised across the southwestern United States, he graduated from Leuzinger High School in California on the honour roll and briefly studied at UCLA as a directing student. He began as a stage actor, training with Stella Adler in New York, before transitioning to film and television. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and has worked on both US coasts.
Zamora's screen debut came as Lagarto in Repo Man (1984). He went on to appear in RoboCop (1987) as Kaplan, Born in East L.A. (1987) and numerous other films and series, including True Blood (2008) as Don Bartolo. As of 2024 he had played more than 280 speaking roles over a 43-year career as a character actor. He has also worked as a producer, director and writer, and is completing a feature-length directorial debut.
