Biography
Deniz Gamze Ergüven is a Turkish-French film director. She was born on 4 June 1978 in Ankara, Turkey, and moved to France in the 1980s. She trained at La Fémis and graduated in 2008.
Her debut feature Mustang (2015), which she co-wrote, premiered in the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. She has also directed the feature Kings (2017) and episodes of the series The First (2018), The Handmaid's Tale (2019), Perry Mason (2020) and The Last Thing He Told Me (2023).
