Biography
Dennis Lipscomb (1 March 1942 – 30 July 2014) was an American actor. He earned an engineering degree from Clarkson University and trained as a Shakespearean stage actor, appearing in Broadway productions including Romeo and Juliet (1977) and Night and Day (1979).
His first feature film was Union City (1980). He appeared in supporting roles in films including WarGames (1983) as Watson, A Soldier's Story (1984), Crossroads (1986), The First Power (1990) and Under Siege (1992). On television he had a recurring role as the mayor of Sparta, Mississippi in the first season of In the Heat of the Night (1988) and guest-starred in series such as Wiseguy, ER and The X-Files.
