Biography
DeWitt Clarke Jennings (21 June 1871 – 1 March 1937) was an American stage and film actor. He appeared in 17 Broadway productions between 1906 and 1920 and in more than 150 films from 1915 until his death.
Jennings was born in Cameron, Missouri. He began his career on the stage before moving into silent films, often playing authority figures such as police officers, captains and judges. Among his screen credits are Wallace in The Big House (1930), Boat Captain Hollister in The Big Trail (1930), a police captain in Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) and Sailing Master Fryer in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935). He died in Hollywood, California, aged 65.
