Biography
Don Warrington is a Trinidadian-born British actor. Born Don Williams on 23 May 1951 in Trinidad, he grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne and trained at Drama Centre London after beginning in repertory theatre aged 17.
He is known for playing Philip Smith in the ITV sitcom Rising Damp (1974–78) and its 1980 film adaptation, and Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in the BBC series Death in Paradise (2011–present). Other credits include roles in Doctor Who (2005), Red Dwarf (1988), Hamlet (1996), Lewis (2007) and Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984). He was appointed MBE in 2008 for services to drama.
