Biography
Doris Egan is an American writer and producer. She grew up in New Jersey and attended Barnard College in New York City. She began her career writing science fiction and fantasy novels, including the Gate of Ivory trilogy published between 1989 and 1992, and City of Diamond (1996) under the pen name Jane Emerson. She also published short stories in anthologies.
Egan moved into television in the 1990s. Her credits as writer and producer include Smallville (2001–2002), Dark Angel (2000–2001), House (2004, with writing and story credits from 2006 to 2010), Numb3rs (2005), Torchwood (2006, including the 2011 episode "Rendition"), Reign (2013–2015), Black Sails (2014), The Good Doctor (2017–2021) and Swamp Thing (2019). She has received Emmy nominations for her television work.
