Biography
Douglas Seale (1913–1999) was an English actor whose career spanned stage, film and television over more than six decades.
Born in London, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made his professional stage debut in 1934. After wartime service with the Royal Corps of Signals, he performed with the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre company at Stratford-upon-Avon and later worked as a producer and director in Britain and the United States before resuming acting.
Seale received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his 1983 Broadway role in Noises Off. His screen credits include Count Arco in Amadeus (1984), the voice of Krebbs in The Rescuers Down Under (1990) and the voice of the Sultan in Aladdin (1992).
