Biography
Edgar Dearing was an American actor. He appeared in numerous Hollywood films and television series, often in uncredited or supporting roles as policemen or motorcycle officers.
Dearing began his career in silent comedy shorts for Hal Roach, including several with Laurel and Hardy. He later took supporting roles in their features for 20th Century Fox. He continued in similar parts through the 1940s before appearing in many western films and television series, usually as a sheriff, into the early 1960s.
Among his credits are Swing Time (1936), You Can't Take It with You (1938), The Awful Truth (1937), Scarlet Street (1945), The Bishop's Wife (1947), It Came from Outer Space (1953), Horse Feathers (1932) and Pollyanna (1960). He also appeared in episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959) and Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955).
