Biography
Edgar Willmar Froese was a German composer and electronic music pioneer. He founded the band Tangerine Dream in 1967 and remained its only continuous member until his death. The group became known for its film soundtracks from the late 1970s onwards.
Froese was born on 6 June 1944 in Tilsit, East Prussia (now Sovetsk, Russia) and died on 20 January 2015. He studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of the Arts in Berlin. Earlier, he formed the band The Ones, which performed in Spain and met Salvador Dalí.
He is credited with music on films including Sorcerer (1977), Thief (1981), Risky Business (1983), Firestarter (1984) and Legend (1985).
